Asian Carp set to
Invade Great Lakes
The
Asian Carp are invasive fish that are harming the environment and
economies of the Mississippi, and threaten to do the same to the Great
Lakes. As Great Lakes fishing declines, sport fishermen will move
north, putting pressure on the fish populations in cottage country.

Lake of Bays Association 2006
Water Quality Monitoring Report
Since 2000, the Lake of Bays Association
has monitored key water quality parameters in Lake of Bays. The focus
of the 2006 monitoring program shifted from investigation of nearshore
impacted zones to assessment of general lake health in nearshore and

Highlights of 2005 Water Quality Testing Program -
Phosphorus
Many Lake of Bays residents were concerned
this summer with
the appearance of algal blooms in the water and particularly with the
statement those blooms might be making regarding the water quality and

2002 Bacteriological Study, Lake of Bays
LOBA Environment Committee, under the supervision of Gartner
Lee Ltd. continued its water quality monitoring program in the summer
of 2002. A significant addition to the program was the investigation of
nearshore phosphorus levels. The bacterial component of the program
remained essentially unchanged from the previous 2001 program.

2001 Bacteriological Study, Lake of Bays
In the summer of 2001, LOBA volunteers designed and executed a
bacterial monitoring program under the supervision of Dr. Neil
Hutchinson of Gartner Lee Ltd. A total of twenty sites on the two major
'arms' at the top of Lake of Bays were sampled on seven scheduled
weekends from late May to late September and after two rain events of
2.5 cm or more in 24 hours.
